AddictionCenter.com‘s Drug Rehab  Web Guide – Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health disorder caused by witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Those experiencing PTSD might turn to drugs or alcohol to self-medicate feelings of fear, anxiety and stress.  PTSD changes brain chemistry in much the same way substance abuse and addiction do. Often, these disorders form at the same time and feed off one another. The same trauma that caused PTSD can also trigger a substance use disorder. For immediate treatment help call: (855) 683-3766.
